OGDENSBURG -- The Hockey Coaches Association of New York (HCANY) announced their Division I and Division II boys ice hockey all-state teams, player of the year, and coach of the year awards for the 2024-25 season.

Four members of the OFA boys hockey team received awards for Division II. Tegan Frederick was named co-player of the year, Jon Frederick was awarded the title of co-coach of the year, Laughlin O’Donnell was named first-team defense, and Ty Jacobs was named second-team goaltender.

The OFA boys hockey team finished 21-3 as the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Division 2 Finalist.

“Laughlin, Ty, and Tegan are dedicated student athletes who excelled at the highest level in high school hockey,” coach and award recipient Jon Frederick said. “They always put the team in front of their individual goals. They were true team players, and catalysts for our team on our quest for a state championship.”

“Being named co-player of the year for NYS in Division II is an honor I could not have achieved without my teammates, I wouldn’t be where I am without them,” co-player of the year Tegan Frederick said. “I worked hard to reach this point and it’s an honor. In the end, it feels good because I believe that the bigger the setback from missing last season, the bigger the comeback returning for my senior year.”

“Receiving the accolade of first-team defense is an honor. This has probably been my favorite team I have ever played on and couldn’t have done it without my teammates, first-team defenseman Laughlin O’Donnell said. “I’m glad I returned for this year.”

“It was an incredible season, one I’ll never forget, both individually but mainly as a team. I’ll always think about this team when it comes to my OFA hockey career, second team goaltender Ty Jacobs said. “I don’t think it could have ended in any better way, except if we won the championship. It was quite the ride and I enjoyed being a part of it.”

“We have a great group of fourteen seniors as well as some talented underclassmen. Any time a team is this successful, a healthy amount of resilience and perseverance is required. That was certainly true of this group,” OFA Director of Athletics Matthew Tessmer said. “They did an excellent job representing OFA and our community. Coach Frederick, Coach Howard, and Coach Roddy demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout the season. The individual honors are well deserved but no one ascends to that level alone. We are very proud of the entire team for a job well done!”
