OGDENSBURG — On Tuesday, May 21, Ogdensburg City School District residents voted to approve the district’s $55,261,205 proposed 2024-25 budget with 196 voting in favor and 35 voting against it. The proposed plan calls for a $0—or 0%—increase in spending over the current year’s budget and carries a 0% tax levy increase.
“Our primary focus in crafting this budget has been to ensure that every student has access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. From classroom instruction to extracurricular activities, we are dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in college, career, and life,” said Superintendent of Schools Kevin Kendall. “I’d like to thank our community for supporting the budget and the work of our school staff.”
In addition to the budget vote, two candidates were elected to the board of education. Community members elected Ronald Johnson (207 votes) and Doug Loffler (188 votes) to serve five-year terms. The terms will begin July 1, 2024.
